Portfolio

Your holdings, at their real cost basis

Most trackers guess your average price. GetKoinology already knows it — your portfolio is built from the same FIFO ledger that produces your Schedule VDA, so unrealised gains, realised gains and tax exposure all reconcile to a single set of numbers.

Build my portfolio — free

From your CSV imports only. No exchange keys, no wallet connect, no read-access to anything you own.

Built from your ledger

Every holding traces back to a row you imported. Nothing is inferred, estimated, or pulled from an account you'd have to connect.

Prices sync, positions don't

Live prices refresh from CoinGecko. Your balances come from your own file and change only when you import again — so nothing on your exchange is ever exposed to us.

One cost basis, everywhere

The FIFO figure in your portfolio is the same one in your tax summary. Two screens, one truth.

Tax-aware valuation

See what you'd actually keep

An unrealised gain is not money. Under Section 115BBH, selling it triggers a flat 30% plus 4% cess, with no set-off against a loss anywhere else in your book. Every other tracker shows you a green number. GetKoinology shows you the number after the Income Tax Department takes its share.

Unrealised gain

Current value minus FIFO cost basis, per asset and in total.

Estimated tax if sold today

30% plus 4% cess applied to the gain, calculated per asset — because losses can't offset gains from another VDA.

Net after tax

What actually reaches your bank if you exit the position right now.

Losses in one coin do not reduce the tax on gains in another. Your portfolio shows the tax position asset by asset for exactly this reason — a book that nets to zero on paper can still carry a full 30% liability.

Manual by design

Your portfolio updates when you say so

There is no background sync, and that is deliberate. Connecting an exchange means handing a third party standing access to your account and your full trade history. We don't want it, and you shouldn't offer it.

  1. 1

    Export from your exchange

Download the transaction history CSV from CoinDCX, WazirX, ZebPay, Binance or wherever you traded. Most exchanges put it under Reports or Transaction History.

  2. 2

    Import into your ledger

Drop the file in. New rows are added, and anything already in your ledger is matched so a re-import doesn't duplicate what's there.

  3. 3

    Prices refresh on their own

Valuations update from live market data. Only your positions wait for the next import.

Re-importing once a month — or once a quarter, or whenever you've actually traded — keeps the portfolio meaningful without any of it being automatic. When filing season arrives, the same ledger produces your Schedule VDA with no extra work.

Being straight about the limits

No exchange or wallet connection

Balances come from CSVs you upload. If you traded yesterday and haven't imported since last month, yesterday isn't in here.

No on-chain wallet discovery

DeFi positions, LP tokens, staked balances and NFTs only appear if they exist as rows in a file you import.

Prices are indicative

Live valuations use CoinGecko market data and will differ slightly from your exchange's order book.

Estimates, not filings

Tax figures shown against unrealised positions are projections based on current prices. Nothing is owed until you actually sell.

Portfolio is on every plan, including free

The portfolio view isn't gated. Free covers up to 100 transactions per financial year, indefinitely, with no card. Pro is ₹999 a year.

Portfolio questions

Can I connect my exchange so it updates automatically?

No, and this is a design decision rather than a missing feature. Every position comes from a CSV you upload, which means we never hold credentials that could read your account.

How current is my portfolio?

Prices are live. Holdings are current as of your most recent import. Re-import whenever you've traded and the two stay in step.

Will importing the same file twice duplicate my holdings?

No. Rows already present in your ledger are matched on import, so overlapping exports are handled without doubling your position.

Where does the cost basis come from?

FIFO, applied per asset and pooled across every exchange in your ledger. It is the same calculation behind your tax summary, so the two never disagree.

Does it track DeFi, staking or NFTs?

Only where those appear as rows in a file you import. Staking rewards and airdrops imported as income events are valued at Fair Market Value and shown as taxable VDA income, separately from trading gains.

Do I owe tax on unrealised gains?

No. VDA tax applies on disposal. The projected figure exists so you can see what an exit would cost you before you make it.

Are my holdings visible to anyone at GetKoinology?

Your CSV is parsed in your browser, and nothing is transmitted until you review what was read and choose to save it to your own ledger.

One CSV and you'll know where you stand

Import your transaction history and see your real cost basis, your unrealised position, and what a sale would actually cost you after 30% and cess.

Portfolio valuations are indicative and based on live third-party market data. Tax figures shown against unrealised positions are estimates calculated from current prices and the data you have imported — they are not advice, and no liability arises until a disposal actually occurs. Verify TDS credit against Form 26AS and confirm your return with a qualified chartered accountant before filing.
